Bowen Therapy, or the Bowen Technique as it is sometimes called, is a gentle form of hands-on, soft tissue, therapeutic bodywork, which was developed by Mr Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia, in the 1950's.
There is no manipulation, adjustments, massage or equipment.
Instead, Bowen Therapy uses rolling movements over the fascia which gently stimulates soft tissue, muscles, joints, the circulatory and lymphatic systems.
We treat your body as a whole unit. We don’t just work on the one injured area.
The moves are gentle, but purposeful.
These anatomically placed moves generate signals via your body’s autonomic nervous system (ANS) which stimulate the body’s natural ability to relieve pain, restriction and function. This helps to relax you, encourages greater blood flow, releases muscle tension and helps to calm your mind.
It aids to support and help restore structural and integral balance in the body, relieve tension, reduce pain and help you recover more quickly after injury.
With Bowen Therapy nothing is rushed or forced and it is unique in that there are frequent pauses/rests throughout the session. This is to help your body fully relax and respond to what has been worked on.
